How Snow Bear Met Santa
How Snow Bear Met Santa
by LLH
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the wood,
the creatures were sleeping, as all creatures should.
The bears in their dens, were taking their nap,
and wouldn't awake, 'til the running of sap.
Except for one bear, with a large appetite,
who just couldn't sleep, on that long winter's night.
He'd looked in the pantry, on all of it shelves,
"I could eat a whole reindeer, or all Santa's Elves",
he said in a mutter, as he searched for some food.
He looked, but no matter, it did him no good.
But then he was startled, by a sound on the roof,
like the tinkle of sleigh-bells, and the clatter of hoof.
The look on his face, was one full of surprise,
then a mean nasty crafty look, came into his eyes.
His stomach was growling, he bid it be still,
then he pushed up the window, and climbed o'er the sill.
He crept through the shadows, and there in the snow,
saw shimmer of reindeer, in soft moonlights glow.
So he crept to the rooftop, saw Santa go down,
said, "I'll wait 'til he comes back, then clobber the clown.
Meanwhile, there's fine dining, right here to be had,
and I don't give a hang, if it makes Santa mad.
'Cause my stomachs hungry, and I must be fed!"
'Twas lucky for Santa, he heard what was said.
For Santa had torn, his new Santa suit,
and dropped half the gifts, down the chimney to boot.
So he had come back, with his hat all askew,
really upset, and knew not what to do?!
Now that hungry bear, was real cause for alarm,
for Santa's good reindeer, might come to harm.
Well what should I do? Santa thought in despair,
we're stuck on this roof, with a mad hungry bear!
I must keep on going, I must get the toys,
delivered tonight, to the good girls and boys.
But what can I do? I am getting too fat!
The bear's crooked chimney, even crumpled my hat!
Then he snapped his fingers, I can work this two ways,
I can make that bear glad, to the end of his days.
So he stepped from the shadows, and said to the bear,
"I've been looking for you, you're an answer to prayer!"
Well, that bear was so startled, when he heard the sound,
nearly fell from his perch, on the roof to the ground.
"Now this is my plan. No, you needn't have fear",
Santa said, as he picked up the reins of his deer.
"I'll make you my partner. Come, get in my sleigh,
and if you will do it, I promise to pay!"
So then the bear smiled, and shook Santa's hand,
got into the sleigh, just the way Santa'd planned.
Now he's Santa's full partner, it works like a dream,
'cause Snow Bear now eats, all the cookies and cream!
