What A View Can Inspire

Sometimes in my wanderings I am so inspired by the beauty I see and take pictures of, that I go home and write poetry about it. Sometimes the things which I imagine I see and the things I actually see blend into a perfect mix of fun and adventure. So here are a few pictures taken on the Deshutes river in Oregon at sunset. It seemed so magical, like it was pointing to a door where I could enter into a magical realm. So I just had to go there.

The sun fell down, the hill was turned to gold.
The wind grew silent on the mountain cold.
A door appeared, within the mountainside.
I turned to flee, there was no place to hide.
Then like a moth, drawn to a candle's flame.
I sought the door, from wench the music came.
Its haunting echo drew me ever near.
I stood in wonder, awe replaced my fear.
For there inside the portal, what a sight.
A land most wondrous, was there in the light.
A ship lay moored, upon the nearby shore.
I stepped within, and something closed the door!
For just a moment, doubts assailed my mind.
But curiosity wondered what I'd find?!
The ship was there, like invitation sent.
I stepped upon it, sat, and was content.
It moved then gently, out upon the lake.
I never had been ever more awake.
It was a craft my mind so often craves.
With carvings on its bow and even staves.
Hung upon its mast there was a sail.
Configure with a Dragon, hearty, hale.
I did not fear, my awe was far too great.
With eagerness, I would embrace my fate.
Across the water stood a silver spire.
Beyond it was a mountain belching fire.
Or so I thought, when first my gaze was drawn.
But 'twas a Dragon, blood red as the dawn.
On massive wings it took flight in the air.
Blanched white as death, I could but only stare.
The ship drew nigh, upon the farther shore.
I had not seen a sight like this before.
The ramparts of a Castle filled the sky.
The Dragon came, I thought that I would die.
But just when fear had got the upper hand.
There spilled forth from the Castle, something grand.
A glorious group of pageantry defined.
By courtier's gay and ladies quite refined.
Regalia bold and fancy, they all wore.
Fine frippery and furbelow's galore.
The ship sailed forward, happily was moored.
I do not think I could have been more floored.
The Dragon had a grin upon his face.
I thought, "I've truly found a magic place!"
In fact no single face was even somber.
With merry jest they welcomed me to Gomber.
And so I found at last, what I had sought.
A place that space and time had long forgot.
It was not a place of consternation.
It was all there in my imagination!

P.S.

I hope you all have a wonderful day,
and let your imaginations come out and play.
You never know what you'll find waiting,
while sitting there contemplating!
