Gethsemane

On this Easter morning, as I once again read those wonderful words in the Bible, from the book of John, concerning the death of our Lord. I was drawn to chapter 17, to the prayer our Lord prayed before he went with his disciple's to the Garden of Gethsemane. He lifted his eyes toward heaven and he prayed for them, such a beautiful prayer. I encourage you to go read it. It will strengthen your heart! Then, right in verse's 20 & 21, He prayed for US! He didn't just pray for those beside him, he made the very same request for US. He included US, He saw down through the ages, to You and Me and included us in his prayer!

This is what he prayed: "I am not making request for these alone, but also for the sake of those who believe on me through their word. So that ALL may be one; just as thou, my Father, art with me, that they also may be one with us; so that the world may believe that thou didst send me."

This prayer just burned in my heart, it gave me such joy to know that Jesus thought of me, before he went to Gethsemane, even knowing what awaited him there. It inspired me to write this song and I hope it blesses each and every one of you. Life can be such a struggle, but we have this hope in Jesus. That he knew us from the foundation of the world, and we are marked with his love, and we are bought with the precious price of his blood. How could we not love him in return?! I am so glad of his choice in Gethsemane. And because of it we have that, "Glorious Morning." Jesus said he had the power to lay down his life and take it up again, and just when his Disciple's we at their most broken and low of heart, He took up his life and rose from the grave, just as he said he would! The joy that filled their souls on that day rings down to us through the ages, in their precious words. Thank you Jesus for that morning!!!

Gethsemane

He prayed for me, before Gethsemane,
he saw, not just the men at his side.
He knew of the cost, and he knew I was lost,
so he suffered for me and he cried.

Chorus:
I bore your agony, I bore your pain,
I bore the torment of your sins, I bore the stain.
I fought the battle and I won, in the Garden it was done,
it was there I gave my all for you.

He prayed with such grief, in dark Gethsemane,
that he sweat, drops like blood from his skin.
It was there that he prayed, so my soul could be saved,
yes he cried out to save me from sin.

Chorus:
I bore your agony, I bore your pain,
I bore the torment of your sins, I bore the stain.
I fought the battle and I won, in the Garden it was done,
it was there I gave my all for you.

He prayed all alone, in dark Gethsemane,
none would tarry, yet awhile to pray for him.
In his anguish of heart, He cried, "Let it all depart,
yet not my will, but thine be done, to end all sin."

Chorus:
He bore your agony, he bore your pain,
he bore the torment of your sins, he bore the stain.
He fought the battle and he won, in the Garden it was done,
it was there he gave his all, for you and me.
